Armani Casa Interview with Nora Szeleczky

As you start to consider buying your personal home or investment property

it’s important to consider how world-class design can impact the space. In an exclusive interview with the Director of Armani Casa, Nora Szeleczky, we uncover how the global Italian fashion giant approaches home decor so you can live boldly or home stage your place at a new level.

1) What is the Armani/Casa design philosophy?

The Armani/Casa aesthetic philosophy focuses on simple lines and perfect proportions, enriched by precious materials, refined finishes, and elegant textiles. The distinctive style incorporates a harmonious combination of different inspirations and design codes to form a sophisticated atmosphere.

Established in 2004 the studio, under the direct supervision of Giorgio Armani, provides a comprehensive design service for a variety of projects: apartments in the most exclusive locations, private yachts and planes, exotic villas and prestigious residential complexes. While implementing the Armani style in different contexts and with different shades, the ultimate aim of the Studio is to respond to the demands and wishes of the client.

2) What is the role of the designer now?

Nowadays, designers must look beyond beauty. Design is one of the most powerful tools to help us build a sustainable future not only in environmental terms but also in regards to social and economic justice and diversity. Design provides us with strategies to re-think and re-purpose everything from products to services, from interiors to systems.

We shall take advantage of this and use design as a problem-solving tool. The role of designer now is to lead society - engaging citizens, scientists, artists, consumers, business and governments, to new solutions and better ways to live in community and within nature.

As we research more and more about the circular design, we grow more aware that its principles can provide us with strategies to shift from a linear to a circular economy. We believe in design, and we are very thrilled with new conscious directions design is taking, and we hope we can contribute somehow.

3) How does one design for a future in a post-pandemic world with a risk of a global recession And

new threats of social isolation?

We believe the global pandemic has shown us that “no man is an Island”, so designing for the future must consider this. Designers should focus on sustainability and well-being. These two are key in a more inclusive and justice society. Neuroaesthetics science, together with a more empathetic technology, for example, can help us to deal with our society’s mental health crisis. Sustainable and circular practices are urgent to fight climate change and to avoid another pandemic. They can also help us to find new ways to deal with a recession without compromising. We also need to focus on sustainable and circular practices to fight the environmental crisis on a global level and to avoid another pandemic.

4) What can people expect from your team when they come by the Armani/Casa store in terms of service and overall

design consulting experience?
